Liquid Natural Gas

Liquid Natural Gas (LNG), as its name implies, is

NATURAL GAS THAT'S BEEN
COOLED TO A LIQUID STATE

Cooling the gas decreases the amount of space needed for storage and transport - 600x less volume than in its gas state - making it possible to get LNG to locations where its not feasible to build a pipeline.

STABLE ENERGY SOURCE

Pioneer LNG uses liquid natural gas because it provides a stable energy source for U.S. companies that is more cost-effective and available than energy sources businesses previously relied on, like crude oil. Not only is crude oil expensive, but extraction and use can also be harmful to the environment. Importantly, dependence on crude makes us dependent on foreign energy sources.

ENERGY IMPORTS AND EXPORTS

LNG has allowed the U.S. to “flip the script” on energy imports and exports. Starting in 2017, the U.S. became a net exporter of LNG. Today, liquid natural gas can heat our homes, fuel our vehicles and fleets, and provide stable supplies to protect grid supply during peak seasons. And because it’s a replacement oil products in some industries, usage of LNG reduces oil-based greenhouse gases.

LNG has a multitude of uses in industry:
